Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with his British and Spanish counterparts in London on Wednesday. British Prime Minister Tony Blair in a statement to the press after meeting with the Turkish PM said, "We are both, I'm afraid, too familiar with terrorism and its nature. We agreed about how important it is that we work together to overcome this mutual threat and that we do not allow the terrorists to divide us by nation or by race or by religion."

All countries have suffered in recent times from the brutal attacks of terrorists. Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, was voted in almost immediately after Europe's worst al Qaeda attack in Madrid. Speaking at the press briefing the Spanish PM said, "Spain is a fully fledged ally in the fight against terrorism ... cooperation will continue because it is essential the EU guarantees maximum safety for its citizens."

Blair said that the United Nations would make a strong statement on ways to fight radicalism at its September summit, and added that the holding of an international conference to tackle the roots of Muslim radicalism would be one way to address the issue.
