Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was angered by analyses of the private meetings he held last week with General Yasar Buyukanit of the Turkish Land Forces. As always, he blamed the press, saying "Was there something you want that you didn't get?"

The Prime Minister has made a habit of using this sort of defense towards criticisms aimed at either himself or his party. He implies that the press somehow wants "some things," and that they begin to criticize the AKP after not receiving them. But I have a special request of the Prime Minister: Would he please reveal who exactly these journalists are "who want something." Let everyone learn which newspaper owner wanted what, and which newspaper is waiting for some sort of tip.

In this way, our citizens can at least learn who is after what, and can read the published news with this in mind. But if he doesn't reveal this, there are only two possibilities left:

When the Prime Minister is feeling pressed, he invents these things which are not real, or he is trying to control certain newspapers by passing out spoils from the government purse. If either of these is the case, the Prime Minister's actions do not jibe with political ethics.
