ESKİŞEHİR - Famous British guitarist David Knopfler performed in Turkey for the first time Tuesday night as part of the 14th International Eskişehir Festival in the Anatolian province of Eskişehir. One of the founders of legendary rock band Dire Straits, Knopfler was accompanied on stage by guitarist Harry Bogdanovs.

Born in 1952 in Scotland, Knopfler was one of the founding members of rock band Dire Straits with his brother Mark Knopfler, John Illsley and Pick Withers.

After leaving the band, Knopfler released his first solo album "Release" in 1983. "Behind the Lines," his second album, was released in 1985 and was followed shortly after by "Cut the Wire" in 1986. His other albums include "Lips Against the Steel" (1988), "Lifelines" (1991), "The Giver" (1993), "Small Mercies" (1995), "Wishbones" (2001), "Ship of Dreams" (2004) and "Songs for the Siren" (2006)
