-- DECISION DAY FOR EXPO 2015Â

Everyone in Turkey united as one heart to win the Expo 2015, one of the biggest organizations of the world. Izmir is waiting for the result to be announced at 6:30 p.m. this evening. Firstly delegates of Italy's Milan will make their presentation at the HQs of the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) in Paris. Later Izmir will make its presentation where President Abdullah Gul will also deliver a speech.  Â

The Constitutional Court judges who examined the report written by the rapporteur will decide today whether or not they will accept the case.

-- CASE CRISIS WITH EU

Warning of the European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn that closure case may lead to suspension of the full membership talks, caused uncertainty in relations with the EU. The EU also conveyed its expectation about a constitutional amendment. Speaking to Milliyet newspaper, an EU executive stated that, "our positive approach to the closure case would contradict our principles. We do not believe that Justice & Development Party (AKP) has a hidden agenda."

The voting which will determine the host of the biggest fair organization of the world in 2015 will be decided today in Paris. Milan, one of the richest cities of Europe, is the rival of Izmir, the pearl of the Aegean. If Izmir wins, it will turn into a modern world city with an investment of 20 million USD.

-- MOLOTOV ATTACK ON CUMHURIYET DAILY

Molotov cocktails were hurled at the HQs of the Cumhuriyet daily in Istanbul Saturday night. A 13-year-old kid was arrested. He said "we were incited." Two more suspects were taken into custody.

-- DECISION DAY FOR IZMIR

Whether Expo 2015 will be held in Izmir or Milan will be announced today at 6:00 p.m. Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Republican People's Party (CHP) Leader Deniz Baykal and five ministers will go to Paris today for Expo 2015 which is expected to bring an income of 15 billion USD to Izmir.

-- "WHY A CLOSURE CASE WASN'T OPENED AGAINST MHP" IMPLICATION FROM ERDOGAN

         Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded to the statements of the Supreme Court of Appeals chief prosecutor who sid, "a case would not have been filed, if they had listened to the warnings about the headscarf." Erdogan said, "around 16.5 million electors voted for AKP. This is a national will and everybody should respect this will. Some people bring up only Justice and Development Party(AKP) and associate it with headscarf issue. What is the reason for such an approach although
 another political party under the roof of the parliament says they are ready to get involved in the compromise? It is an hesitant approach. However I clearly say that the history won't forgive this. Those who could not fight against AKP through democratic ways, preferred to fight through anti-democratic methods."

-- PRESIDENT GUL WELCOMES KUWAITI AMIR AT AIRPORT

President Abdullah Gul welcomed Kuwaiti Amir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah at Ankara's Esenboga Airport. The Amir, who came to Turkey on a 5-day visit, has been fighting against colon cancer.

-- EYES TURN TO COURT

After the rapporteur concluded the preliminary examination of the indictment regarding closure case against AKP, Constitutional Court is expected to take up the file today. If the indictment is accepted, it will be sent to AK P within a month and AKP will prepare its defense.

-- RAIN EXPECTED IN FIRST THREE DAYS OF WEEK

Rain is expected in Turkey in the first three days of the week in regions apart from western parts of Marmara and some parts of the southeast. Temperatures are expected to drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius.

-- ERDOGAN: DON'T REDUCE AKP TO HEADSCARF ISSUE

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the recent approaches towards AKP at the congress of Women's Branch of his party in Yalova. "There are people who reduce AKP to the headscarf issue. It is a shame. As a prime minister who did not bring the issue (headscarf) to agenda for five years, should I have withheld my opinion?" said Erdogan. Erdogan pointed out that no prohibition lawsuit was filed against the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and said, "though another party also said they were ready for consensus, what is the reason of this stance? This is a hesitant attitude."

-- CUMHURIYET ATTACKED ONCE AGAIN

The HQs of the Cumhuriyet daily in Istanbul, which had been attacked thrice with hand grenades in the past, was attacked last night with molotov cocktails. A 13-year-old teenager was arrested. Later two more individuals were taken into custody. Experts said "the molotov cocktails used in the attacks" were a craftsman's job.

Security forces captured one of the 3 assailants who were trying to escape after hurling bomb at daily Cumhuriyet in Istanbul. Security forces were shocked after seeing that the suspect was a 13-year-old teenager.
