-- WANTED VIDEO FOR GARIPOGLU IN 6 LANGUAGES ON INTERPOL WEBSITE
Interpol has started running a video of Cem Garipoglu, the main suspect in the murder of Munevver Karabulut, in the opening page of its website. With the "wanted" video played in six languages, Garipoglu became the third most wanted to appear after two child pornographers, who appear in the opening page in Interpol's website.

-- WE STAND BY COL.CICEK UNTIL THE END
Deputy Chief of General Staff, Gen. Hasan Igsız said they were certain that Colonel Dursun Cicek has no connection to the "Action Plan for Fight against Reactionary Movement" document. Gen. Igsiz, who attended the national day reception of the U.S., responded to a question from a Hurriyet reporter on the issue. "I'm not going to add anything to what our Chief of General Staff has already said, but of course we still stand by him," said Gen. Igsiz. Chief of General Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug had said at a press conference that an asymmetric psychological war was being waged against the Turkish Armed Forces noting that the said document was nothing more than just a "piece of paper".

-- PROSECUTORS ACCUSE CICEK OF COUP ATTEMPT
It has been revealed that Colonel Dursun Cicek, who was held in prison for 16 hours and later released due to lack of evidence, was not only accused of "being the member of an organization" but also for a "military coup attempt" during his trial by a civilian court. When asked why he used a different signature in his testimony at the military prosecutor's office, Cicek said that he had been using the signature for three years. Cicek claimed that the signature on the copied document was taken from another document signed 10 years earlier.      Â

-- 43 PERCENT OF PUBLIC DESIRES NEW PARTY
A recent survey conducted among 2,409 people in 33 provinces of Turkey revealed interesting facts. A total of 43 percent respondents said that "a new political party was needed". According to the survey, 54.6 percent of those surveyed voted for the Republican People's Party, or CHP, in the elections, while 31.5 percent of them are supporters of the Justice and Development Party, or AKP. Moreover, 20.4 percent of Turks who had voted for the ruling AKP, nearly 3.1 million people, said that they preferred to call the party "AKP". On the other hand, 63.9 percent of the voters think that change is needed within CHP.

-- GOVERNMENT'S ECHR TRUMP
The government will use three decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, or ECHR, in order to convince the Presidential Palace and the General Staff to pass a law paving the way for the trial of military personnel by civilian courts. The ECHR's three decisions, which were presented to the General Staff and the law commission set up by the Ministry of Justice, are as follows: 1. The ECHR said in its "Ergin decision" in 2006 that "the purview of military courts should cover military personnel who commit crimes when they are on duty". 2. In its 2008 dated "Ozel and others" decision, the ECHR stated that military courts were far from being independent and objective. 3. The ECHR said in its "Erukcu decision" that a court, which was not independent and objective, could not conduct a fair trial.

-- BILLION-DOLLAR MEETING
Saudi Arabian Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, who is the fifth wealthiest businessman in the world, held talks with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Premier Tayyip Erdogan. According to sources, the prince plans to make a $5.5 billion investment in Turkey.

-- COL. CICEK RELEASED DUE TO LACK OF EVIDENCE WITH 2 VOTES AGAINST ONE
The details of the decision that ended the 18 hour long detention of Col. Dursun Cicek were revealed. The Istanbul High Criminal Court ruled that the evidence was not sufficient for his arrest and there were no indicators that the suspect had any intention of fleeing. The member judge, Faik Saban, who was appointed to the court board at 2:16 p.m. (GMT 1116) the day Col. Cicek was being interrogated, voted for his release together with the Court President, while members voted against the release.

-- LOOK AT THE GREATER PICTURE, EVERYONE MAY NEED LAW ONE DAY!
Deputy Chief of General Staff, Gen. Hasan Igsız, who attended the national day reception of the U.S., gave the response to reporters' question regarding the release of Col. Durdun Cicek: "It's not just about the Turkish Armed Forces. Look at the greater picture; everyone may need the law one day." When asked the same question, the leader of the Republican People's Party, Deniz Baykal, said the release decision alleviated the tension, adding that it was early to judge that the tensions had completely subsided.

-- DON'T PUT YOURSELVES IN PLACE OF JUSTICE
Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan said "In an environment where even a tea server has immunity, the necessary care should be displayed regarding the sensitivities of institutions like the Turkish Armed Forces." He said those who spelled the term "Ergenekon terrorist organization" were putting themselves in the place of judges. Toptan, who pointed out that there was no risk of military coups in Turkey, said "One may think about military coups. One may even have fascist thoughts. But as long as these opinions do not turn into action they will not constitute a crime," said Toptan.

-- WORKERS BESIEGED AKP
Workers organized under the roof of the Turk-Is Labor union, whose demands were not accepted during recent collective bargaining talks with the government, marched to the Justice and Development Party, or AKP, HQs, and branch buildings. Turk-Is Chairman Mustafa Kumlu said they would try to conclude the collective agreement on the table, noting that they wanted the rights losses stemming from tax and insurance premiums to be remedied. Another senior Turk-Is official said they would use the strike weapon should their demands be turned down.

-- "CHP TSK= RULERSHIP" FORMULA NO MORE VALID
In an interview with Radikal daily, an effective member of the Turkish government commented on the latest developments in the country. Regarding the Republican People's Party's, or CHP, stance towards the recent developments, the government member said, "Previously, the CHP plus the Turkish Armed Forces, or TSK, meant rulership, there was such a formula. This formula is not valid anymore. Those trying to run politics according to this formula face difficulties now". The government member also said that relations between the TSK and the government would improve and soon have more realistic grounds.

The 14th High Criminal Court, which ruled for the release of Colonel Dursun Cicek, said that the evidence was not sufficient to him to be detained. The court examined the verdict of the non-prosecution of the military prosecutor's office, as well as other reports on Cicek's signature, and later ruled for the release of Cicek due to a lack of evidence.
