-- BRIEF AND MEANINGFUL
The Cankaya Summit, attended by the heads of legislative, executive and judicial organs at the invitation of President Abdullah Gul, sent a message: "Everybody should abide by the rules and fundamental principles of law, and take maximum care in the procedure of putting laws into practice." In a statement after the meeting, it was underlined that abiding by the principles would make Turkey stronger, make it easier to overcome obstacles and cement the atmosphere of confidence in society.
       
-- WEEKLY MEETING
Another thing will happen for the first time at the top the state. Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and Chief of General Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug have decided to conduct "weekly meetings". Thursday’s will witness another important meeting after President Abdullah Gul's regular meetings with the top of the state. Erdogan and Basbug will hold their first meeting today.

-- ERDOGAN AND BASBUG TO MEET EVERY WEEK
Premier Tayyip Erdogan, who regularly meets every week with President Abdullah Gul, and National Intelligence Organization Undersecretary Emre Taner, will also begin meeting regularly with General Staff Chief Gen. Ilker Basbug. Regular meetings between the Premier and the General Staff chief will be the first in Turkey's political history.
       
-- KILIC: THEY ARE TAKING REVENGE FROM TURKISH ARMED FORCES
Ret. Gen Tuncer Kilin,c who was taken into custody under the Ergenekon and later released by the prosecutor's office said, "Those who felt they were victimized on March 12, September 12 and February 28, are now seeking revenge from the Turkish Armed Forces, because they have representatives in the media."

-- DAVOS MODEL FOR ULUDAG
Uludag will turn into a tourism center, like Switzerland's Davos town that hosts the World Economic Forum, upon the directives of Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan. All the buildings that violate construction laws and buildings that belong to the state will be demolished.
       
-- TABLE OF DEMOCRACY AND LAW
The summit of "authorities", who convened at lunch at the Foreign Ministry HQ upon a call from President Abdullah Gul, lasted for 1-1/2 hours. Releasing a statement after the meeting, the President's Office said "participants think that strengthening democracy in Turkey, being loyal to the rule of law and fundamental principles, and paying the utmost attention to laws in their procedures and implementation will make Turkey stronger, help overcome problems, and build confidence in society.”

-- INHERITOR'S POSE
Former prime minister, Mesut Yilmaz, who dropped the support for the Motherland Party (ANAP) from 45 to 5 percent, was welcomed as "the most successful leader" in the party headquarters which he visited for the first time in six years.

ANAP, which was founded by former and late president Turgut Ozal in 1983, joined the general elections six months later after the party was established and formed a government by gaining 45.1 percent of votes. Mesut Yilmaz became the leader of the party in 1991 and joined four general elections. In the general elections, ANAP won 24 percent, 19.6 percent, 13.2 percent, and 5.1 percent, respectively. Yilmaz quit politics after he failed to pass the electoral threshold, but entered parliament as an independent lawmaker in the 2007 elections.

Taking action for a new political formation, Yilmaz visited the Motherland Party (ANAVATAN) headquarters for the first time in six years. Yilmaz pledged to "extend support" to chairman Salih Uzun. "Thanks to my political experience, I will serve the country with the Motherland Party," Mesut Yilmaz said.
       
-- "PROCEDURE" WARNING FOR ERGENEKON
President Abdullah Gul met heads of legislative, executive and judicial branches over a luncheon at the Foreign Ministry residence. Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister Cemil Cicek and heads of seven judicial organs participated in the luncheon. During the luncheon, the judicial authorities voiced the procedure laws regarding tapping and detentions and criticized the Ergenekon investigation without mentioning it. The presidential office statement warned police and prosecutors to "be careful". It said, "Being loyal to the rule of law and the fundamental principles and paying the utmost attention to procedural laws will make Turkey stronger."

-- "ABIDE BY LAWS" MESSAGE
President Abdullah Gul held a luncheon with the heads of legislative, executive and judicial branches. During the meeting, the participants discussed the tense atmosphere caused by the Ergenekon case. The presidential office statement said that improving democracy would help overcome problems. "Paying the utmost attention to procedural laws will make Turkey stronger," the statement also said.
       
-- COUNCIL OF STATE HEARING IN MARCH
After the Supreme Court of Appeals annulled a verdict regarding the attacks on the Council of State in Ankara and the Cumhuriyet daily newspaper offices in Istanbul, the Ankara Criminal Court No.11 completed its studies on the file. The criminal court decided to hold a hearing on March 23. It will decide whether or not to combine this file with the Ergenekon case.

-- CRISIS HIT BUDGET
The economic stagnation also hit the tax revenues. Despite 5.5 billion in revenue received from privatizations in 2008, the government failed to meet the targets it revised in October.
       
-- ERGENEKON LUNCH
Ergenekon was the topic of the lunch President Abdullah Gul hosted for representatives of the executive branch, legislation, and the judiciary. Supreme Court President Hasan Gerceker said, "We discussed judicial issues and the country's problems. We had a meeting on the principles (regarding Ergenekon)." A press release issued by the Presidential Place said, "Paying attention to procedure laws will strengthen Turkey."

-- LEGAL WARNING FROM PRESIDENTIAL PALACE
Heads of legislative, executive and judicial branches participated in a luncheon hosted by President Abdullah Gul, and exchanged views on issues topping Turkey's agenda. After the luncheon at the Foreign Ministry Residence, the presidential office released a statement and said that paying the utmost attention to the rule of law and procedural laws would strengthen the atmosphere of confidence.

The Ankara Criminal Court No.11 will continue hearing the file regarding the attack on the Council of State in Ankara on March 23. The Supreme Court of Appeals has ruled that the Council of State file should be combined with the Ergenekon case. The criminal court, which earlier tried hitman, Alparslan Arslan and seven other suspects, will debate the demand of the Supreme Court of Appeals on March 23.
