BODRUM - Halikarnas Bird Park is on its way to becoming another center of attraction in Bodrum.

Hundreds of birds and chickens brought from all over the world are exhibited in the bird park, which is in the Konacık district of the city.

The bird park was opened last week after first being planned two years ago by Bodrum-based businessmen Necmi Oktürk and Muzaffer Kurucu.

Halikarnas Bird Park boasts peacocks, pigeons, partridges, quails, doves and ducks brought in from other parts of Turkey and foreign countries. The park organizers aim to attract many visitors during the summer.

"We tried to create something beautiful for world-famous Bodrum, which is already known for its nature and history," said Kurucu. "We will start special tours for tourists in summer."

Kurucu said they were donating some animals to primary schools and education institutions for the disabled.
