Bekir Coskun: Moustaches and guns...

You can see this in turkeys, cats, birds, wolves, foxes, skunks, even squirrels.

But humans can puff up neither fur nor feathers.

So some of them, by letting their hair grow, try to look more magnificant, stronger, more fearsome.

On some, we call this a moustache.

Guns?

No matter what that male does, he cannot make a gun sound on his own.

A male cannot make a song explode, cannot make a poem explode, cannot even fire off a nuclear weapon, atleast in a way that will only mildly affect people around him.

So he thinks, and thinks, and thinks...

And he comes up with a gun.

It is, after all, the easiest and most effective sound maker in the world.

So he fires off his gun.

While everyone runs, he things that the little explosion has been effective, and he is happy.

Actually, a moustache and a gun go hand in hand.

When I see a man with a moustache, I generally think he has a gun. Anyway, you can see for yourselves that generally, when a man has a gun, he also has a moustache.

In short, a moustache compliments a gun, just as a gun compliments a moustache.

(This of course does not include all males in Turkey who may have moustaches and be without guns-there are some, certainly.)

While a moustache gives them power and might, a gun lets them give out big noises.

So when they put these two things together, there is nothing left for them to fear.

The Turkish media has been talking for two days about the MPs-who all had moustaches-who were photographed shooting off guns at a wedding.

And so you see, those guns are their "big noise" instruments.

And their moustaches are from the turkey-feather-fluffing school.

There is nothing left to explain about them.
