Professor Filiz Kılıç said the rector’s office of Nevşehir University has obtained the Higher Education Board, or YÖK's, permission to set up the faculty but due to their inability to find Armenian speaking academics, the faculty is not operational.
Kılıç spoke to the Anatolia news agency about the university’s efforts to find Armenian-speaking academics in order to accept students in the faculty and pointed to the university’s ties to the Turkish Language Foundation and Turkish History Foundation as possible options in its search for personnel. "We have searched for academics who would be able to lecture in the Armenian Culture and Literature Faculty but could not find one in Turkey.
Now we are searching in Azerbaijan. We have Armenian texts but we do not have anyone to translate them," said Kılıç, adding that they need at least three academics in order to open the faculty.
