A Bird’s Eye View: Enforce stricker gun control

You humans continue to kill each other, either intentionally or by mistake. A few weeks ago we had two mass killings that took place, just a few days from each other in the United States and Germany and now followed by yet another incident in the United States just this past week.

In Alabama, a gunman killed 10 humans, burned his house, then committed suicide. In Winnenden Germany, a student killed 16 humans (classmates, teachers and innocent bystanders) before being shot and killed by the police. And now in Binghampton, N.Y. In all three cases the murders might not have been committed had the murderers not had access to guns. We shall not commment on the U.S. murders since the situation there is hopeless as far as gun control legislation is concerned. It is a country where even a terrorist can purchase a gun just as easily as purchasing groceries.

Different case in Germany
The case in Germany is somewhat different, since in that country there exists some kind of gun control legislation. The murderer student got the weapon from his father's gun collection. His father was a member of a local gun club. But German law requires holders of guns to keep them in places that are not accessible to others. And this clause of the law was not kept in the case of the Winneden murders. The student murderer had undergone phsychological treatment but it had been discontinued. He was also playing violent computer games. Our bird-brained advice to the German authorities is simple. Enforce stricter gun control legislation (You are good at this.) and ban the sale of violent computer games. You could also tell the European Union to endorse such a ban. If not, human lives will continue to be lost. If the United States does not care to protect human lives, it does not mean that Germany should also not care.

Then you have stupid accidents that also endanger human lives. An Illinois-based pharmaceutical company called Baxter International Inc., has been caught shipping live avian flu viruses mixed with flu vaccine material to medical distributors in 18 countries. The "mistake" was discovered in March by the National Microbiology Laboratory of Canada who alerted the World Health Organization. And was there any consequence to Baxter? Not that we have heard of any. Remember when anthrax was being mailed to U.S. senators and all the publicity about terrorist activity? Nothing however was mentioned about Baxter's terrorist activity or how many humans were affected by it.

But the fact that humanity is suffering from an illness of an undetermined nature can be seen in Taipei where recently a toilet restaurant was opened. The restaurant called Modern Toilet has customers sitting on a stylish acrylic toilet (lid down). Everyone dines at a glass table with a sink underneath. The server brings the food on a mini toilet bowl while you sip drinks from your own plastic urinal. At least the food that is served is normal but not the names on the menu. Maybe it would be a good idea to invite the president of the WTO (World Toilet Organization). What more can we say?

Ponder our thoughts dear humans for your benefit.
