ISTANBUL - Two pilots died in an ambulance helicopter that crashed in the Western province of Bolu on Saturday evening, according to Transportation Minister Binali Yıldırım.

Pilot Andrzej Wojewodzki and watcher, retired Pilot Col. Süleyman Kıyak, were found dead in the wreckage of the helicopter that crashed in Bolu’s Kıbrıscık district, private NTV news channel reported yesterday. Bolu Deputy Governor İsmail Atasoy said the bodies of the two pilots were sent to Ankara on a Health Ministry helicopter.

After the contact with the helicopter was cut off Saturday night, the manhunt started. However, officials said earlier that they had to stop searching due to a heavy snow fall. A team of 100 people from Bolu, Ankara and Sakaryacontinus came to the rescue in the morning by opening the way through 1.5-meters of snow. The wreckage was found on a Köroğlu hill 10 kilometers from the Kıbrıscık district center.

The rescue teams started to return to their provinces, but the investigation of the wreckage continues.
