Turkey, where the jobless rate was 13.6 percent in December, now has about 3.65 million unemployed, the latest figures revealed.

The jobless rate was 11.6 percent in January 2008.

The labor force participation rate from December 2008 to February was calculated as 45.8 percent, the Turkish Statistic Institute, or TURKSTAT, said. The unemployment rate is 17.2 percent in urban and 11.8 percent in rural regions, it added.

The number of the unemployed people continues to rise in Turkey as the impact of the global economic crisis bites deeper into the local economy.
