US Embassy in Ankara: This was Turkey's decision

Spokeswoman for the US Embassy in Ankara, Kathy Schalow, commented yesterday on the Turkish bombing of PKK camps in northern Iraq, noting "Turkey did not ask us for any go-ahead.
This was Turkey's decision, and what they did was give us information beforehand." Schalow did not comment on whether or not the US handed over intelligence to the Turkish forces prior to the military operation, but did remind reporters that the US had already agreed to share intelligence regarding northern Iraq during an earlier meeting between Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President George W. Bush during at the White House.
