Following a press conference by DEHAP yesterday in support of former PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, Hakkari's province of Yuksekova was turned into a war zone when 5 thousand marched to show sympathy with DEHAP and Ocalan's cause. When police warned crowds to disperse following the DEHAP press conference, they were countered by angered protesters carrying sticks and stones.The police fired into the air and used pepper gas to respond. Marching in the wake of the event, protestors broke the windows of local business, and clashed with police for over 3 hours. A total of 10 people were arrested in the day's events, which wound up in the injury of 2 police and 9 civilians. Â Â
