Turkish president to discuss EU membership in Czech Republic

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday that he would discuss Turkey's EU membership process as well as bilateral relations during his visit to Czech Republic.

Holding a press conference in Ankara prior to his departure for Czech
Republic, Gul said that Czech Republic extended support to Turkey's EU
membership, adding that relations between the two countries were progressing
rapidly.

Gul said that Turkey and Czech Republic were sharing universal values and they both contributing to stability and prosperity in their regions.

Also commenting on Turkey-Azerbaijan relations, Gul said that there was a full consultation between the two countries, adding that the stance between the two countries would not change.

He said that every country was free to set its domestic and foreign policy, adding that the diplomacy which had been pursued by Turkey was for the advantage of both Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Regarding the visits of U.S. president and chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff to Turkey, Gul said that there was a strong understanding and cooperation between Turkey and the U.S. concerning fight against terrorism. He added that neither Obama nor Mullen demanded anything from Turkey during their visits.
