The flight will run three times a week between Istanbul and Baghdad.

A plane carrying business leaders, journalists and Turkey's Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim and Foreign Minister Kursad Tuzmen left Sunday for Baghdad to attend a ceremony marking the restored service to the Iraqi capital.

Tuzmen said the flights will help increase business between the two neighboring countries, and indicated security "is beginning to be restored" in Iraq.

"We are pleased to see the resumption of flights between Turkey and Iraq. We are going to Baghdad on Sunday (today) to join in the ceremony in Baghdad on the occasion of new flights between Turkey and Iraq," Tuzmen was quoted by Anatolian Agency as saying.Â
