Thieves Back for More

ISTANBUL, Uskudar - Following the serial robberies reported in Tarlabasi street last week, thieves returned to rob from almost every business on yet another street in Istanbul, Nuh Kuyusu street, Uskudar.In the same serial-style robbery, thieves hit business after business along the 1 km street. Not finding any money in the cash box of the Pastry Shop (the first place to be hit), the thieves ate pastries and stole a few drinks. Robberies on this street are common. A ready-to- wear shop has been hit 5 times in 8 years and an internet cafe, twice. Aysegul Tas, who has a dentist surgery on the street has been robbed five times over the period of a year. When asked to comment on the serial robberies, Muammer Guler, Istanbul’s Governor said, “There are 62 thousand streets, 2 million houses and more than a million independent buildings in the city. It is not possible to place a police or gendarme in front of all of them.” �
