Speaking with AKEL leader and Parliament Speaker Chirstos Christofias, Talat said that postponing the referendum was out of the question. However the Greek Cypriot party leader said that a No vote will emerge in Southern Cyprus unless the referendum is postponed a few months.

Meanwhile, the decision taken by AKEL at week end, started dividing the party. Public Works Minister Kazamias who was for supporting the Annan Plan, resigned from his post. Interior Minister Chirstu is set to follow suit.

Meanwhile a high-ranking EU official said that the referendum can not be postponed and this was possible only by postponing the EU membership of Greek Cypriots.
