Six separatists killed in clashes with Turkish army

Six separatists from outlawed PKK were killed and three others were wounded in the clashes with Turkish army in Baskale town of eastern province of Van, state run Anatolian Agency reported on Saturday. (UPDATED)
Security forces, acting on a tip off that terrorists would abduct a citizen named Aptulmutalip Ozdemir living in Guvendik village, near Iranian border, followed the terrorists, AA said.
Security forces launched an operation in a cave in Abazer region in Iranian border region where Ozdemir was brought while six terrorists were killed, and three others who were wounded, fled, AA added.
PKK killed Ozdemir, also said AA adding that, the clashes occurred in late Friday and an operation was underway in the region to capture the terrorists who had escaped.
Turkey has intensified its fight against the PKK on both diplomatic and military fronts. The Turkish army has been carrying out ground operations against PKK positions in Turkey as well as air operations in northern Iraq.
