Sener: First Installment of Loan Is Coming

Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener said that a postponement in the 8.5-billion-dollar U.S. loan to Turkey was out of question and that, “The necessary procedure for the loan was completed. The first installment may be extended at the end of this month.” Sener said that a prohibition on usage of foreign currencies in shopping was not on the agenda of the government.Upon a question regarding the delay in the 8.5-billion-dollar U.S. loan, Sener said, “Necessary procedure pertaining to this loan was completed. Therefore we expect that the first installment of it to be released by the end of the month. Turkey has no plan to postpone the receipt of this loan. Such news is completely false. However right from the beginning I have said that this loan will be received in line with Turkey’s needs. Nevertheless postponement of it is out of question.” Regarding the amount of the first installment, Sener said that it would be determined in line with Turkey’s needs.Upon the questions regarding the news that usage of foreign currencies in shopping will be banned, Sener said that the government or any minister did not make such a statement and that it was not on the agenda of the government.
