A message sent by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan two days ago to the leadership of northern Iraq received its first response yesterday, with news that a group of PKK wanting to hold a protest on the anniversary of former PKK head Abdullah Ocalan's capture in the city of Erbil were denied permission.

On the plane headed for Turkmenistan to attend swearing-in ceremonies for newly elected Turkmeni President Kurbangul Berdimuhammedov, Erdogan has commented to reporters "There are steps which could be taken to deepen our relations with the regional Kurish government in northern Iraq. Why not?" Some sources are interpreting the banning of the pro-Ocalan march in Erbil as a response to Erdogan's words earlier this week.
