Latest development on Armenian conference: not good

I am not up to the last minute details on the court decision calling for the most recent postponement of the Armenian conference. But let me express my feelings on the matter anyway. This postponement is very bad news. Especially not the way it happened. That makes it even less attractive. And when you add the Orhan Pamuk matter into the mettle, just as we head into October 3, our picturesque photo is ruined. Just look at the photo: The Swiss Courts decide to drop the case against Dogu Perincek, who had proclaimed in Switzerland "There was no Armenian genocide." They say now that "saying that" is not a crime.  While we, here in Istanbul, decide not to allow a conference which includes people who say "There was in fact a genocide" to go ahead.  Because of these court decisions, I can write comfortably about neither Orhan Pamuk nor the conference participants. Because I cannot swallow the fact or either a court case against Pamuk or a court decision in favor of another conference delay. Â
