Late Azerbaijani leader to be commemorated

ISTANBUL - The Marmara Foundation will be hosting a memorial day for the late Azerbaijani national leader, Haydar Aliyev, today.
Aliyev was the president of Soviet Azerbaijan from 1969 until 1982 and of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 1993 until 2003. The occasion will mark the fifth anniversary of Aliyev’s death, who was suceeded by his son, and many members of the Azerbaijani and Turkish Parliaments will attend the ceremony to be held in Istanbul.
