Greek Cypriots: We Will Impose Embargo On U.S.

The planned visit of U.S. companies to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has maddened Greek Cypriots. In an attempt to assert their contempt for the visit, which is planned for next Thursday, the Greek-Cypriot administration is threatening the U.S. with embargoes and prohibition of U.S. goods. It is also promising to strengthen ties and encourage embargoes on U.S. goods with Syria and Iran, if the visit goes ahead. "Be careful. We may cooperate with Syria and Iran and impose embargo on U.S. goods." The Greek-Cypriot threat was delivered to Washington upon news of the visit. The Commerce Attaché of the U.S Embassy is planning to travel with the 10 U.S. companies operating in Turkey. Â
