-- HE ALSO RAPED HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND
F.G, thirty-years-old, the ex-girlfriend of the Turkish deviant with helmet, who was arrested after raping 10 young girls in the past five months, also charged her ex-boyfriend of raping her. F.G said her ex-boyfriend raped her 12 years ago, but she was afraid to make an official complaint.

-- THERE IS NO WEAKNESS IN INTELLIGENCE
Turkish Land Forces Commander Gen. Isik Kosaner made statements regarding the results of the Aktutun investigation. Kosaner said troops in the Bayraktepe region did their best to defend their post and the region was not left to terrorists. Kosaner also said that those soldiers would be awarded.

Turkish Central Bank Govenor Durmus Yilmaz said that there has been a serious dollar liquidity problem in the country and some measures must be taken. Yilmaz stated that Turkey did not need International Monetary Fund financing at this time.

-- AKTUTUN COMPLIES WITH MILITARY TACTIC
Land Forces Commander Gen. Isik Kosaner announced results of an investigation conducted by the Second Army on the terrorist attack on a military outpost in Bayraktepe (Aktutun) region in the southeastern province of Hakkari. Gen. Kosaner said there was no weakness in the intelligence.

The government foresees a 4 percent growth in the economy; however, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that growth would be 2.5 or 3 percent. The IMF asked that tax income targets and public investments should be reduced. The IMF said that incentives should not be given to the industrial sector now.

Emine Erdogan, the wife of the Turkish prime minister, delivered a speech at a conference held in the Syrian capital, Damascus. "Active participation of women in social life is a common issue of the whole world and one of the most basic criterion of civilized life is women's right to education, employment, production and fair participation in social life," Erdogan told a conference on "Reshaping Women's Role in the Society".

Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz said that certain precautions should taken for U.S. dollar liquidity. "We do not need the IMF's money at the moment, however, we attach importance to several arrangements in order to give assurance the international markets," Yilmaz said.

The research also says that Istanbul is among the top 10 cities in terms of commercial connectivity, with its geographic position providing access to many other growing markets.

Residents of Istanbul had difficult hours due to heavy rains; however, dams filled after two days of extensive and heavy rainfall. Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas said that the occupancy rate in dams rose up to 26 percent.

--PEUGEOT TO INVEST IN TURKEY
Peugeot, one of the largest automotive companies in Europe, has been searching for a place in Turkey to build a plant for production of new models. Peugeot has halted production in its plants in France. The CEO of the company said that they could close down some of the plants in France.

--GUL: "I AM READY TO HAND OVER MY AUTHORITY"
President Abdullah Gul said discussions over appointments of rectors caused problems in universities. "I am ready to hand over my authority of appointing rectors," Gul said.
