-- ERDOGAN: BORDER CLOSED UNTIL INVASION ENDS
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan made reassuring statements about the Karabakh issue at a joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan in Baku. Erdogan said Turkey would not open its border with Armenia unless Armenia ends its invasion of Nagorno-Karabakh.
       
-- HISTORICAL VISA STEP FROM GERMANY
In a declaration sent to police department and provincial interior ministries, the German Interior Ministry said Turkish citizens who travel to Germany to attend scientific events or art or sports activities cannot be asked for visas. The declaration said Turkish workers who travel to Germany to carry out repair, revision or mounting services also will not be asked for visas. Turkish truck drivers who transport goods from Turkey to Germany will also be able to travel to this country without visas for up to two months.

Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan paid a formal visit to Azerbaijan with five of his ministers. Erdogan said the border with Armenia would not be opened unless the occupation in Nagorno-Karabakh ends. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude to Erdogan: “There cannot be any other open response. I am grateful to this response. There is no place for suspicion.”

A person wearing a mask and carrying a rifle attempted to rob a bank branch in Kusadasi in the Aegean province of Aydin. The robber took 17 people hostages, and the incident, which started at 10:30 a.m., ended after seven hours when the police detained the robber.

Dark clouds over Turkey's relations with Azerbaijan dispersed with the initiatives of Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan. Erdogan gave assurances both in his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his address at the Azerbaijani Parliament. Erdogan said, "Just announcing that Turkey gave up Upper Karabakh is slander. We will not open the border gates unless the occupation ends. Azerbaijan's territorial integrity should be preserved."

An assailant named Serkan Saglam raided a bank branch in Kusadasi in the Aegean province of Aydin and took 15 people hostage. Police rendered the assailant ineffective in an operation.

-- ERDOGAN: BORDER CLOSED UNTIL INVASION ENDS
Replying to a question at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey closed its border gate with Armenia after this country invaded Nagorno-Karabakh. "We will not open the border gates unless the invasion ends," Erdogan said. Upon Erdogan's remarks, Aliyev said that he did not have any doubts about this matter anymore.
       
-- UZAN MONEY FOR ‘BAD DAYS’ RETURNED TO TURKEY
Turkey's Savings Deposit Insurance Fund, or TMSF, has won a legal war that lasted for five years. As a first step of the legal process carried out by the fund against the Uzan family, the family's $196 million worth savings at several Swiss banks were transferred to the fund's bank accounts.

-- BORDER PROMISE IN BAKU
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, who paid an official visit to Azerbaijan, spoke at a press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and said it impossible to open the border with Armenia until the Nagorno-Karabakh issue is resolved. "Who says this? The prime minister of the Republic of Turkey. Could there be a more assuring statement than that?" Erdogan said.

Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Azerbaijan started under the shadow of Azerbaijan's reactions to the possibility of Turkey's opening border with Armenia but ended with the message of "full agreement." Speaking to his people after the meeting, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, "We don't have suspicions and drawbacks anymore." "We will not allow mischief makers. Opening the border is out of the question unless the occupation ends," Erdogan said.
