-- AIRLINES DO NOT CARRY PASSENGERS WITHOUT VISA TO GERMANY
Although Germany abided by the decision of the court and said it would not ask for visas from Turkish citizens starting June 6, airline companies did not accept passengers without visa. Company executives said they pay 3,000 euro for every passenger who does not have visa. 
       
-- EYE OF THE WORLD IS IN ISTANBUL PARK
Ferrari pilot Felipe Massa, who was given the nickname "Turkish pilot" after winning many championships in Istanbul Park speedway, ranked seventh during yesterday's qualifying round. Sebastian Vettel from the Red Bull Racing team won the round.

-- AN OPEN MESSAGE FROM US PRESIDENT OBAMA
U.S. President Barack Obama was in Paris on Saturday. In a joint press conference with his French counterpart, Nicolas Sarkozy, Obama gave an open message on Turkey. "Turkey is a very important ally and is highly important for the European Union," he said. "Turkey's EU membership is crucial.”
       
-- PROJECT TO ATTRACT INVESTMENTS TO TURKEY
The Turkish government is making preparations to draw Turkish investments made overseas back to Turkey. “We are working on a project in order to attract Turkish companies who are currently working overseas," said State Minister Zafer Caglayan.

-- DEPUTY PM ARINC: AKP IS BLAMELESS
Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said there cannot be a connection between the Deniz Feneri e.V. investigation and the Justice and Development Party, or AKP. "The AKP did and will not get even a coin from any institution or organization apart from Turkey," he said.
       
-- NATO SECRETARY-GENERAL DUE IN TURKEY
The secretary-general NATO will pay a farewell visit in Ankara on June 7 and 8. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will hand over his mission to Anders Fogh Rasmussen at the beginning of August. Turkish foreign ministry said NATO Secretary General will meet Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, and Chief of General Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug.

-- ERDOGAN: THEY WANT TO DIVIDE OUR MOVEMENT
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan was in the western province of Kutahya on Saturday. Addressing a local congress of his ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP, Erdogan said: "We will never leave our unity. There is weakness in separation and strength in unity. There are those who want to divide our movement. However, we will not give them any opportunity to do so."
       
-- DTP’S TURK: NO SOLUTIONS COULD BE FOUND WITH WEAPONS
Democratic Society Party, or DTP, Co-chairman Ahmet Turk said that recent steps taken for the solution of the Kurdish problem are promising. The Kurds have understood that the problem could not be resolved by weapons, Turk said.

TURKEY'S EU MEMBERSHIP ISSUE CAUSES TENSION
U.S. President Barack Obama was in Paris on Saturday. In a meeting with his French counterpart, Nicolas Sarkozy, President Obama said: "Turkey is an extremely important ally. I encourage Turkey's accession into the European Union." President Sarkozy said: "I agree with Obama that Turkey plays the role of a bridge. Yet we differ on what kind of a bridge Turkey could be."
       
-- FRANCE ARRESTS PKK TERRORISTS
French security forces arrested six suspected PKK terrorists on Saturday. The arrests took place after several citizens of Kurdish origin made complaints about the PKK terrorists.

-- TURKEY COMES BETWEEN OBAMA, SARKOZY
U.S. President Barack Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy agreed on most matters apart from the headscarf and Turkey. U.S. President Obama said: "Turkey's EU membership is important. However, Sarkozy thinks differently. A message can be relayed to the whole Muslim world with this membership." In response to Obama, Sarkozy said: "Europe is a power of stability. I will not let it be destroyed." When asked to comment on headscarf, Obama said, "Traditions should not be suppressed," and Sarkozy said, "France is secular, and civil servants cannot wear signs showing their religions."

Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc, commenting on the Supreme Board of Radio and Television, or RTUK, chairman Zahid Akman, said, "I don't have the authorization to remove him from office. He should do what is suitable for him soon."

U.S. President Barack Obama refused an invitation from French President Nicolas Sarkozy for a dinner. Obama emphasized the importance of Turkey's membership to the EU. Sarkozy said he thought differently about Turkey.
       
-- TRADE BRIDGES ATTRACT AFRICAN INVESTORS TO TURKEY 
Senegalese businessmen signed agreements worth $1 million in Duzce province within the scope of Turkey-Africa Trade Bridge organized by the Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists, or TUSKON. Meanwhile, Sudanese businessmen who arrived in southern province of Mersin visited industry facilities.
