Thousands of Georgians, fled fighting in South Ossetia between Georgia and Russia, flocked to northeastern province of Trabzon, a 2.5-hours drive from the border crossing between Turkey and Georgia.

A five-star hotel manager told the A.A that Trabzon was the first stop after the border crossing.

"They put up at hotels in Trabzon and then head to other cities or countries," hotel manager Ali Sahin said. "However, some of them spent nights at parks, gardens and bus terminal as all hotels were full in the city," he said.

"We spent the night over a bank at a park here. We could not find a vacant room at hotels. I am still looking for a hotel room, does not matter good or bad," said Giorgia Satldze, a Georgian came to Trabzon with her husband and two kids.

Large numbers of Georgian people crowded hotels in Trabzon especially in the first days of the conflict in the Caucasus, but now some of them left the city as the fire ceased.

Hotels were already crowded as it is the high season, head of Trabzon Chamber of Hoteliers said. "We told our members to prefer especially families with children," Halil Ibrahim Sahinoglu said. "They are our neighbors. We can even host them at home."
