Phillipe de Villiers, leader of the French nationalist "Movement for France" party, has announced his candidacy for president of the republic in 2007. In doing so, de Villiers attacked both Turkey and Islam, attesting that he was running in order to "stop the Islamicization of France and prevent Turkey from entering the EU." De Villiers also noted that the newly elected president had to be someone who could say to other EU leaders "either choose France or Turkey, but not you can't have both." With his far right stance, de Villiers has left even right wing leader Jean Marie Le Pen far behind. Â
