Flames In Burgaz Island

Flames spread on the Burgaz Island, the lungs of Istanbul. A forest fire, which erupted between 13.00 and 14.10 expanded into pine-trees with the south-west wind and then occupied a big portion of the island.Half of the forested area in the Burgaz Island was burned in a few hours. A person died as a result of heart attack and 12 houses were burned. The fire could be controlled at about 21.00.Women, elderly people, kids and sick people left the island with ships and men participated in the activities to extinguish the fire. Some citizens reacted at the Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler by saying, “You burned the island. We have waited fire brigades for 4 hours.”The fire erupted in the highest point of the island, however two historical villas were burned in the fire. This brings the possibility of sabotage into minds. �
