Blood tests were taken from two children and one adult in the capital, the tests showed positive for the virus, said Ankara's governor Kenal Onal. If the virus is confirmed it will be the first cases outside of Van province, making it a worrying concern that the virus is spreading faster than expected.

The WHO have confirmed that four children from villages near Van, in the remote eats of Turkey, are infected with the H5N1 strain of the virus.
