An investigation has been opened into the nineteen prison personnel suspended amid allegations that Ceber was tortured to death in custody at Istanbul’s Metris Prison earlier in October.Â

A total of 97 officers were brought to a police station in Istanbul to participate in a police lineup, DHA said.

The witnesses, who were detained along with Ceber, fingered 15 officers, including a woman, in the lineup, it added.

"We noticed that some of the officers had tried to change their appearance. But we identified them without difficulty," the witnesses said.

Ceber was detained last month while protesting that police officers have not been brought to justice for allegedly shooting and paralyzing a youth selling a left-wing publication last year. Â
