“There is unrest on the street , towards tomorrow’s referendum. Three young men who advocated a Yes vote were severely beaten up three days ago, turning the eyes to Turkey. Even though Denktas denies, people believe that the aggressors were Ulkucu (Idealists). They also believe that these acts are directed from Turkey. “A Lady from Gocmenkoy says that “Denktas says No to the Annan Plan. But he should also say No to those coming from Turkey. Let them not meddle in our business!” ““They are right. TRNC is flooded by MHP people. Its leader Devlet Bahceli and the high officials of the party are in TRNC and cause disturbance among the people. Not only MHP; but officials of Great Unity Party BBP are also involved...A friend of mine in TRNC told me “Ulkucu militants do not have any popularity in Turkey any more. Therefore they thing that the political climate here is suitable for them. They are trying to do what they cannot do in Turkey, here.”“Tension rises here as cars of some people are put on fire and stones are hurled at “Yes” banners...” �
