EU center marks April 23 with exhibit

ANKARA - Schoolchildren will paint each other’s portraits and display them at the European Union Information Centre in Ankara as part of the April 23 Children’s Day activities. The pictures, along with posters already prepared, will make up an exhibition titled "The Picture of the Other."
The opening of the exhibition yesterday brought together students from two schools, Burç Akademi and İlkadım Preschool. The students were also introduced to the kids Web site of the European Commission delegation to Turkey and to the new adventures of Lokum, a cartoon character used to familiarize Turkish children with the European Union.
On the occasion of the 2009 Year of Creativity and Innovation, the European Commission to Turkey published "Lokum on Innovation." The exhibition "Picture of the Other" can be visited at the EU Information Centre (Tunalı Hilmi Caddesi 82B/1 Kavaklıdere/ Ankara) Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. "There will be activities of the EU Information Centre all over Ankara this week that target children," said Nazlan Ertan, the EU Information Centre director.
