Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan yesterday in Bosnia expected one question from the reporters. ''What do you think about TUSIAD'S call for reconciliation?'' But the question about reconciliation came from another channel.

Haberin Devamı

The reporters asked what his opinions are about Ilhan Selcuk's call for reconciliation, not TUSIAD's. TUSIAD's call has been welcomed by Erdogan and his entourage. Maybe it is the first time these people have positive thoughts about TUSIAD.

There were signatures of all board members under TUSIAD's statement. So this was the message of Turkish business world's common sense.

After TUSIAD's, the second call for common sense comes today. The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) and seven non-governmental organizations are calling for a common sense. In order to do this they have set up a very nice symbolic platform.

The representatives of these organizations in 81 provinces will make the joint call at the same time.

''Civil society'', in other words ''Turkey's common sense'', is seizing the crisis. It is impossible for the politicians not to be influenced by this. If they are not, they shouldn't use the word ''democracy'' once again.

Yesterday's speeches in the parliament were very important from this perspective. CHP leader Deniz Baykal said ''How can you expect me to reduce the political tension as if I raised it?''

You can interpret these words as another signal of disagreement but in other perspective those mean: ''If you overcome the worries about the regime and factors that raises tension, I agree with that too.''

What about MHP leader Devlet Bahceli? Was he wrong when he said ''To amend the constitution at the moment means going to the fire with fuel''? or when he said ''Majority dictatorship can't be the cover of democracy'', doesn't he underline the danger that we need to take serious?

In my opinion everybody gradually started to see how serious the situation is. If I am right with this, we can create a convenient climate to start talking about the basic principles of the regime seriously.

I repeat:

If Ilhan Selcuk is able to control his anger, prime minister can manage not to hear those provocotive voices of both his supporters or opponents. He will be the biggest winner, in such a situation.
