Turkey sharply reacted at the Cyprus report, issued in the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), which gathered in New York within the framework of UN meetings. The report states that the Greek Cypriot Administration was recognized as the Cypriot government and it supports the uncompromising attitude of Greek Cypriots. After the distribution of the report in the meeting, Altay Cengizer, The Deputy Permanent Representative of Turkey in OIC said, “The Turkish side has doubts about the integrity and rightness of this report.” The report includes very friendly expressions about the Greek Cypriot leader. For instance it calls Tassos Papadopulos, “Tassos.”. Diplomatic sources said that they saw Egyptian diplomats chatting with their Greek Cypriot colleagues after the meeting and informing them about the content of the report. According to the sources, this amplified the size of the scandal. Only Pakistani and Azeri diplomats supported Turkey and the other members of the organization remained indifferent.
