'CE' Rebellion of Foreign Companies

The inconvenience confronted at the customs due to the CE document requirement introduced by the government for imports stirred up the foreign companies as well. The companies whose products arriving in Turkey wait at the customs for 11 days sent the message that, "Press the government so that the problem is solved" to their commercial attaché.The customs torture created by the CE document requirement, was put into practice by the government against the ever-increasing imports, especially the low-quality Chinese products.The non-governmental organizations representing many sectors bombarded State Minister Kursad Tuzmen and Industry and Trade Minister Ali Coskun with their letters. Turkey's ban on imports of products without CE and its demand for a conformity document from the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE),  effected the international companies selling products of billions dollars to Turkey.Â
