A bomb which went off yesterday in Istanbul's Bayrampasa district killed one person and wounded 15, including 7 police. The bomb was placed in the Iksir Internet Cafe, which is located just behind a police station. The owner of the cafe, Zafer Isik, lost his life in the blast. 18 year old Berat Yildirim, who worked in the cafe and was wounded in the blast, said that the bomb had been left in the cafe by a customer who had come to use the internet services three days in a row.

Said Yildirim, "The same person came again today. He sat at computer number sixteen. He put his bag under the table, and drank three teas while he was here. At one point, he asked if there was a bathroom, and hearing there was none, he got up and left. He left the bag behind, still under the table, and a little while later, it exploded."

There is suspicion as to whether or not the police station immediately behind the internet cafe was the actual target of the bomb. Yesterday, the PKK-linked terrorist group "Kurdistan Freedom Hawks" took responsibility for the bomb.
