WASHINGTON - Omni National Bank of Atlanta, a four-state lender ordered last week to raise capital, was shut by regulators as the highest unemployment in a quarter century helped push the toll of bank failures in the U.S. this year to 21.

Omni National, with $956 million in assets and $796.8 million in deposits, was seized Friday by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, according to a statement. SunTrust Banks of Atlanta will operate the lender’s six branches and wind down the bank by April 27.
