The Ankara 5th Administrative Court has ruled that the controversial April 27, 2007 "e-communique" issued by the Turkish military's General Staff headquarters over their official web site was a "press statement backed by administrative intent."
The court thus rejected a demand put forward for recompensation by Ankara lawyer Kemal Vuraldogan, who claimed that the military's e-communique had caused him great personal stress and panic. Vuraldogan brought his case to court shortly after the April 27 issuance of the e-communique, seeking a symbolic 1 YTL sum of money from the Defense Ministry for psychic damages wrought as a result of the military's statements.
