Moldova, separatists agree to work on peace

MOSCOW - The leaders of Moldova and its breakaway region of Transdniestr agreed yesterday at a Russia-brokered meeting to work towards a peaceful resolution of their conflict, news agencies reported.

The leaders signed a joint statement pledging to continue direct meetings "with the goal of activating the negotiation process for the political resolution of the Transniestr conflict," according to Interfax news agency.
