Turkish warplanes bombed several border areas near the towns of Neroye and Rekan in the Dahuk province in northern Iraq on Sunday night, the website of the Iraqi President Jalal Talabani's political party reported. Turkish jets bombed on Sunday the Nerwa and Rekan areas in northern Iraq, the website of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) reported.

Turkish jets also bombed mountainous areas in the Zakho district of Duhok province earlier on Sunday, PUK media reported, adding Turkish artillery sporadically shelled the same areas.

Yawar said on Monday the Sunday night strikes occurred in a remote part of Dahuk province near the border with Turkey.

There was no immediate confirmation from the Turkish military. Â

Turkey had intensified its fight against outlawed PKK separatists as officials say the recent air and ground operations delivered a huge blow to the separatists.

Erdogan said Turkey's fight against terrorism came to a significant stage with the recent successful operations carried out by the Turkish armed forces and police, the Anatolian Agency reported.

PKK separatists understood they would not reach anywhere and achieve anything by terrorism, Erdogan told reporters in Antalya province of Turkey. "You have come to the end of the road. Give up this wrong track before you cause more sorrows for your families."

He also said the PKK was isolated, and its logistic and financial resources were dried thanks to the political, diplomatic and socio-cultural measures taken by the Turkish government, adding Turkey's fight against terrorism would absolutely succeed.

Turkey has launched several cross-border aerial attacks to stamp out PKK bases in northern Iraq. In February, it also sent ground troops for an eight-day cross-border incursion, in pursuit of the separatists. The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community including the United States and the European Union.

Turkish warplanes on Friday pounded PKK positions inside Turkey, in retaliation for a PKK attack on a military outpost close to the border with Iraq. The following day, Turkish warplanes and artillery units destroyed key PKK positions in northern Iraq - including a communications center, the military said, without giving details of any casualties.
