Turkey's major unions decided to hold a two hours strike on April 14 as a warning against government's new social security reform and vowed this will be the first step in a larger protests.

The head of Emek Platform, formed by labour unions, said on Monday they decided to call its member workers to stop working between 10-12am (GMT 0800-1000) on March 14.

The chairman of Emek Platfrom, Mustafa Kumlu, said their actions were not politically or ideologically driven and pointed out that they were trying to protect the rights of the workers. Chairmen of Kamu-sen, Hak-Is, KESK, DISK, BASK and Memur-Sen and other
components of the Emek Platform attended the meeting. Â
