Foreign Ministers of the countries in Southeast Europe convened in Bulgarian capital of Sofia on Thursday. The cooperation between the countries in Southeast Europe, latest developments in the region and particularly Kosovo's independence are on the agenda of the informal meeting of foreign ministers of the Southeast Europe Cooperation Process.

Attending the meeting on behalf of Turkey, Turkish Foreign Minister & Chief Negotiator for EU Talks Ali Babacan said that the international agenda was currently quite busy due to numerous developments in the Balkans. He said Turkey attached great importance to the Balkans and its relations with Balkan states. "The main goal of our Balkans policy is to play an active role in the search for stability in the region and the endeavours for economic cooperation," he said.Â

Babacan will hold a series of bilateral talks within the framework of the meeting. He will meet Macedonian FM Antonio Milososki and his Croatian counterpart Gordan Jandrokovic to discuss Turkey's relations with these countries.

The informal meeting of foreign ministers of the Southeast Europe Cooperation Process will end on Thursday. FM Babacan is expected to return to Turkey upon closure of the meeting.
