ISTANBUL - İzmir is warming up for some Finnish cool, with the city to host a design exhibition from a Nordic country.

Titled "Cool Dozen Ğ Chair and Textile Design from Finland," the exhibition has been organized by the Finnnish Embassy and Finnish Honorary Consulate General in İzmir, along with the İzmir Economic University, where the collection will be on display.

Included in proceedings is a seminar on "Finnish Design and Newness Strategies." The seminar will take place at the university today at 2 p.m. Among the speakers will be the Finnish Ambassador to Ankara Kirsti Eskelinen, the university’s Faculty of Fine Arts and Design dean, Professor Tevfik Balcıoğlu, the university rector, Professor Atilla Sezgin, Marmara University Industrial Design Department member Professor Şermin Alyanak, Helsinki Art and Design University deputy rector, Professor Pekka Korvenmaa and Pentagon Design Manager Sauli Suomela.

The seminar will cover the following topics: "Why Finnish Design?" "Design, Newness and National Strategies" and "Penatgon Design: Daily Life Designs for Everyone."

The exhibition, which was previously organized for the Istanbul Technical University Taşkışla campus, will be open through until March 8.
