Turkish industrial production plummets 20.9 percent in March

According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, or TURKSTAT, the biggest contraction was in the automative sector which plummeted by 53.1 percent.

 

The data showed that production in the mining industry dropped by 9.7 percent, while the manufacturing industry shrank 23.5 percent.Â

 

Turkey's power, gas and water industry also fell by 3.3 percent, the figures also revealed.

 

This is the eight consecutive month of decline due to weak domestic demand and a reduction in exports.
