Turkish warplanes bomb PKK bases in northern Iraq - military sources

Between four and six aircraft carried out the operation after PKK terrorists were spotted on Iraqi soil, Turkish military sources told Reuters. Â

 

The sources told the agency the ground forces began shelling PKK bases near the Turkish border late on Saturday and that the firing was continuing.

It was the latest of a series of Turkish air operations against the PKK terrorists, who use northern Iraq as a base for launching attacks in Turkey.Â

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Ankara and much of the international community, including the EU and the United States.Â
