Turkish frigate thwarts hijack attempt

ANKARA – Turkey’s TCG Giresun frigate deployed in the Gulf of Aden has thwarted a hijack attempt by Somalian pirates against a Vietnam flagged ship, said a statement from the Turkish Military Staff yesterday.
TCG Giresun, together with Danish warship HDMS Absalon, prevented the attack on Saturday morning. The TCG frigate is part of an international naval force against piracy.
