Artifact smugglers caught by Muğla police

MUĞLA - The Muğla police department has recovered 16 historical artifacts pertaining to the Ottoman and Byzantium times at an extensive police operation.
The Muğla Provincial Police Department teams were tipped off that several historical artifacts were to be dispatched from the Nothwestern city of Yalova to Marmaris district of the Western city of Muğla. The teams formed control points at the entrance and exit of the city.
Caught in a bus Wednesday, suspects known only as T.P (45), C.E (39) and E.Ü (45) were taken under custody. The police teams found various historical seals, ancient coins, vases and medals.
It was reported the suspects would be taken to court, charged with the smuggling of historical artifacts.
