Turkey's nationalist opposition leader said nobody is allowed to be disrespectful to the country's prime minister and Tayyip Erdogan was right to storm out of the Gaza session in Davos, urging him to adopt a similar approach on other issues. (UPDATED)

"The rhetoric and the approach of both the moderator and the Israeli President in the (Davos) session towards Prime Minister, who represents the Republic of Turkey, is an act of arrogance that is unacceptable by our nation," Devlet Bahceli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), said in a written statement on Saturday.

Although his method can be disputed, Erdogan's reaction to leave the session is "right, legitimate and correct," Bahceli added.

Erdogan had stormed out of the tense Gaza session on Thursday in Davos after the moderator, Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, refused to give him floor.

Bahceli urged Erdogan to adopt a similar approach to the national issues in which the government unilateral concessions harmed the dignity of the country.

"Therefore it is now time to show a national stance on the issues such as fight against terror and protecting the Turkmens (in Iraq) as well as in the relations with Armenia against the so-called genocide claims, with the Greek Cypriots in the fight for the identity of Turkish Cypriots, with the European Union against the list of concessions and impositions and with the U.S. for the regional threats and coersions," he added.
